Stromboli is one of the most active volcanoes on Earth and has been erupting almost continuously since 1932. Because of this, it is known as the "Lighthouse of the Mediterranean".
Stromboli is widely known for its spectacular eruptions. Because the eruptions are so distinctive, geologists use the word "Strombolian" to describe similar eruptive activity at other volcanoes.
Stromboli forms the northeastern-most of the Aeolian islands.
Stromboli is a succession of houses overlooking the sea. Its white houses with colorful doors, thick walls, are cool in summer and warm in winter.
Staying on the island creates a feeling of "peace", suggesting that the time is still valid.
Stromboli is a rugged landscape, the vegetation that was burned by the blast from the slopes of the mountains to the coast.
Stromboli glowing white in the sun in September.
The bays there are wonderful. We followed the trail of black sand. Black sea, blue, purple, green, clear.
Sabrina on the rocks.
Sabrina every day is fresh, feeling good and full of energy!
I was convinced to leave my heels to get to the beach.
I see the shapes taken by the lava rocks that protect us and try to find patterns that look like human faces or animals.
Playing with the white waves.
I saw white big waves comming from the sea...
The shore is a beautiful place filled with awesome waves.
The wind blows against big sea waves creating a trail of sea spray.
There are many ways to learn volcanology.
Happiness is great. Sometimes is a person, a smile or a place like this one here...
The Island of Stromboli is a unique place to study earth sciences and nature.
Autumn sea sound of waves and relaxing boats.

Arrivederci Italia!

Ti ringraziamo ancora, ci hai sorpresi!
Un abbraccio e mille baci

I've always been fascinated by volcanoes. My visit on the Vesuvium was an unforgettable experience.

It seems that Sabrina is no less explosive and hot than the Stromboli volcano.

I have just literally (well, almost)stumbled upon this gorgeous site. Your pictures are beautiful - really sharp and interesting. Like Duta, I too am really interested in Volcanoes and so will have to travel a bit further down Italy to see Stromboli, but our first stop is northern Italy. I shall explore your site some more...
