Bratislava, Slovakia

Fascinating Bratislava, my beloved city

The Novy Most (New Bridge), and its UFO platform on the top of its tower in the Danube river is a powerful symbol of the city, built in 1971. You can have breathtaking experience of stunning views of the city.
Slovak Republic is a small inland country in the centre of Europe. Bratislava is one of the youngest capitals.
The capital of Slovakia with its hidden treasures, is a fascinating city full of beauties, architecture, monuments and historic sights.
The elegant Slovak National Theater was constructed in 1886.
The Primate’s Palace one of Slovakia’s architectural jewels, was built in 1778-1781 and is also known as the Palace of Archbishop of Estergom. In this Palace in 1805 Napoleon Bonaparte and Francis I of Hapsburg signed the Pressburg Truce in 1805, in its Mirror Hall. The Castle was destroyed and it was reconstructed in 1953. It hosts the Slovak National Museum.
The statue of the important and a well-known Slovak poet Pavol Orzságh Hviezdoslav looms over the Hviezdoslavovo Square. (Photo: With my sister Darina and her husband Palo).
The centre of Bratislava is also referred to as the Stare Mesto or the Old Town. The Old Town includes the historic core of the city and adjacent quarters, originally medieval suburbs.
Bratislava is a beautiful capital city with a picturesque Old Town, filled with monuments, museums and palaces, making it a joy to explore.
The monumental building of Bratislava Castle (10th century) is probably the most significant sight in the city.

A totally new built Square is the city centre. (Photo: With my father Ivan Okali in the city centre).

Bratislava is situated on the banks of the River Danube at the crossroads of ancient trading routes right at the heart of Central Europe. (Photo: With my sister's husband Palo and some other friends).
There is a dense network of trams, buses and trolleybuses with which you can move around and outside the core of the city.

I've heard a lot about Slovakia and its charming capital Bratislava from a former neighbour of mine who was originally from those parts. Now, seeing these awsome pictures of this post, I feel I wish to visit there sometime in the near future.

(What a splendid song is accompanying the post!!)

Hi
Was Slovak Republic once part of the erstwhile Czechoslovakia ? Captivating pics of Bratislava - a blend of ancient and modern architecture.

Cheers Ram
