Located in France's northerly Normandy region, Mont Saint Michel (Saint Michael's Mount) is a particularly famous rocky tidal island.
It is located approximately one kilometer (just over a half-mile) off the country's north coast, at the mouth of the Couesnon River near Avranches.

The Mont-Saint-Michel was used in the sixth and seventh centuries as an Armorican stronghold.
The closest town to Mont Saint Michel is Pontorson, which is located around 8 km (5 miles) to the south of the island.
The Mont-Saint-Michel and its bay were added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 1979.
Be amazed by the prodigious accomplishments of medieval architecture, by the forces of nature, and the ever-changing light.

Le Abbaye du Mont-Saint-Michel. The Abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel is built in a tidal basin on a solid granite. The abbey dates back to Roman times. It was called Mont Tombe (a sanctuary) that was dedicated to the Archangel Michael, on October 16, in 708.
Le Mont Abbaye du-Saint-Michel.
This incredible place welcomes more than three million visitors a year.

I'm happy to see Mont St. Michel looks the same as it did 23 years ago, when I last visited it. I remember walking up the steep windy paths, when I was pregnant with my first son. Great memories of France and I shall be in the southern part in ten days.

Beautiful!

I never was there, I was in Provence, it's also great, but the landscape of the Normandie feels holy.

Greetings
