Chandigarh, India

Chandigarh is the first planned modern city in India, It serves as the capital of both Punjab and Haryana regions.

This beautiful city is named after the mother goddess of power, Chandi, and a fort (garh) beond the Chandi temple. Chandigarh also known as the Garden city of India, has good collection of beautifully maintained gardens.

Chandigarh festival of gardens is one of the most popular festivals listed on the national calendar of festivals. It is a three-day extravaganza that is held in the month of February, mostly during the last week. Initially, this festival was called Rose festival and was started to motivate people to visit the rose garden and savor the marvelous sight of the blooms. Since 1997, it is known as the festival of gardens.

Η γιορτή των χρωμάτων

Μουσική, χορός λουλούδια και υπέροχα χρώματα. Το φεστιβάλ των κήπων στην πόλη Chandigarh στην Ινδία είναι η η γιορτή των αισθήσεων και των συναισθημάτων.

Στη φωτογραφία παραδοσιακοί χορευτές παρουσιάζουν το χορό τους. Τo φεστιβάλ διοργανώνεται κάθε Φεβρουάριο για τρεις μέρες και περιλαμβάνει ανθοκομικές εκθέσεις, μουσική και χορούς. Οι κάτοικοι της περιοχής, αλλά και επισκέπτες αγκαλιάζουν το φεστιβάλ κάθε χρόνο με ιδιαίτερη αγάπη.

Presbyterian Gal. Hi LJ. As you know India's history goes back some thousand of years! The name of the city is a combination of the names (Chandi=goddess of and the word 'Garh' =fort).

It has been sometime and I say I miss being here in your blog coz you always brig us to new places---and now It's India---- I am really dying to see the Tai majal and find out for myself why people say it's one of the best structures in the world~~~
