Paris Opera, France

The Palais Garnier, known also as the Opéra de Paris or Opéra Garnier, but more commonly as the Paris Opéra.
A grand building designed by Charles Garnier in the Neo-Baroque style, it is regarded as one of the architectural masterpieces of its time.
The Opera Garnier, is a mixture of Neo-Renaissance and Neo-Barique magnificent architecture.
At the entrance of the building.
It seats an audience of about 2,200 and has a huge stage with room to accommodate as many as 450 artists.
The style is monumental with the use of axial symmetry in plan, and its exterior ornamentation.
The interior consists of corridors, stairwells, alcoves allowing the movement of large numbers of people.
Rich with velvet, gold leaf, and cherubim and nymphs, the interior is characteristic of Baroque sumptuousness.
Between the columns of the theater's front facade, there are bronze busts of many of the great composers.
Several other buildings in some other countries were based on the design of the Palais Garnier,
It's decorated opulently with elaborate multicolored marble friezes, columns, and lavish statuary, many of which portray deities of Greek mythology.

Upon its inauguration during 1875, the opera house was named officially the Académie Nationale de Musique - Théâtre de l'Opéra.
Just outside the Opera.
Next to the Opera building, below the hotel 'Le Grand Hotel' is the historic 'Café de la Paix' (café of peace) which the Greek statesman Eleftherios Venizelos used to visit during his exile in France.
We enjoyed our coffee here!

Lovely building and your pictures too. It's a shame I didn't give it more time if I had known what was on the inside. It's where the bus dropped off from the airport.

¡I love Paris!
