The amazing city of Pisa

Pisa is best known for the world famous Leaning Tower, but this is not the only thing to see, and you may miss the rest of the architectural and artistic marvels of this beautiful city.
In 1987 the Piazza dei Miracoli (Miracle square) was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

The Piazza del Duomo also houses the Duomo (the Cathedral), the Baptistry and the Camposanto Monumentale (the monumental cemetery).

The height of the tower is approximately 59 meters and has 296 steps; the seventh floor has two fewer steps.
It is one of many works of art and architecture in the city's Piazza del Duomo, also known, as Piazza dei Miracoli (Square of Miracles).

The Leaning Tower of Pisa (Torre pendente di Pisa) or simply the Tower of Pisa (La Torre di Pisa) is the campanile, or freestanding bell tower, of the cathedral, situated behind it and is the third oldest structure in Pisa's Cathedral Square (Piazza del Duomo).
The Baptistry (Battistero di San Giovanni) completed in 1363. On top of the Baptistry it stands the statue of San Giovanni (Saint John).

Thanks for sharing these lovely photos, reminding me of my visit to Pisa last summer.
I read before our visit that Pisa was a good choice to stay in rather than Florence, and I'm very glad we did.
