The Holy Monastery of Paleokastritsa, in Corfu.

Paleokastritsa is the most famous tourist resort in Corfu. It is a region of unique beauty and landscape with magnificent sceneries.
Η Παλαιοκαστρίτσα είναι το πιο φημισμένο τουριστικό θέρετρο της Κέρκυρας. Πρόκειται για μια περιοχή μοναδικής ομορφιάς και φύση με μαγευτικά τοπία.
The small chapel which is near the beach and shows the way to the Monastery of Paleokastritsa a few meters away.

This byzantine Monastery was constructed in 1228 and reconstructed during the 15th century.

Until 1950 the Μonastery was the only building in this area.

You can see Agelokastro, the byzantine fortress of the 13th century in village Krini, on the hill right across the monastery.

Θαυμάσιο παράκτιο τοπίο και εξαιρετικές, απομονωμένες παραλίες κοντά στο Μοναστήρι.
Scenic nature trails around, trekking by foot, around the rocky routes, stopping only for a breather and some photographs along the way.
Γραφικά μονοπάτια γύρω, πεζοπορία γύρω από τις βραχώδεις τοποθεσίες, σταματώντας μόνο για μια ανάσα και μερικές φωτογραφίες στην πορεία.

It's a nice place there, at the monastery, with great views! But like in all other similar places there are too many touristis there. You may not meditate or pray, nor feel the communion with the nature.
Great pictures, Phivos! I miss Greece :)

I have been to Cofu, stayed in Gouvia, beach holiday !!! Once in the 1990 ....so looooong time ago !

Did not see this lovely place...nice to see the photos and good story telling.
