All you need to do is to go out there and have fun.

Carnival has been celebrated on the island of Cyprus for centuries.
Τhe tradition is believed to have been established under Venetian rule around the 16th century.
It may also have been influenced by Greek traditions, such as festivities for deities such as Dionysus.
The celebration originally involved dressing in fancy costumes and holding masked balls or visiting friends.

Three main parades take place during Carnival.
The first is held on the first day, during which the "Carnival King" rides through the city on his carriage.
The second is held on the first Sunday of the festival and the participants are mainly children.
The third and largest takes place on the last day of Carnival, and involves hundreds of people walking in costumes.
Spectacular costumes and colours.
All that is required is enthusiasm, a passion to have fun and good time.
A great opportunity for families to come out and enjoy the range of fun filled with activities.
This is the biggest carnival show on the island.
It’s all about fun and happiness.

A unique atmosphere.
Having real fun and joy.

Well it is an unforgettable experience - to parade in a beautiful costume.

The economic crisis a carnival interpretation!!

Several Carnival events take place all over Limassol from the 21st of February until the 6th of March.

At the street festivities, and, of course, having a great time at the balls.
There's lots of loud music, singing and dancing all the way through.
The whole city celebrates by partying out on the streets...
Groups and friends having fun in their own way.
Not only enthusiastic carnival paradors but also dedicated individuals create a spectacular atmosphere.

There's nothing like carnival!

The costumes are exorbitant!
I like the economic crisis interpretation. Nothing is left out, even the sad part of life.

Anyway, the Limassol Carnival deserves to be as famous as the Brasil Carnival.(I suppose during the carnival the hotels in Limassol and vicinity are full with both tourists and locals).
